Tom Sove

Sportsmen of Stanislaus Club
Inducted as a Contributor in 2000

by Geoff Capell

Tom started playing handball at Sacramento's 14th and "H" Street Club. He saw handball at Rutgers where he was attending on a swimming scholarship and decided to try it. Six months later, he moved to Stockton and joined the Quail Lake Athletic Club. He later moved to Modesto joining the SOS Club. It was seeing a need for better organization and an opportunity to boost the handball membership that he started organizing.

Tom, along with his wife Cass, ended up doing almost every organizational aspect of handball. He served on the NCHA board, served as president, served on the hall of fame committee, served at the national level, won the coveted Kendler Award for service to the United States Handball Association, and was the Editor of Northern California's handball magazine The Scoop. Tom also runs the regionals, pro stops, and most local tournaments. He is one of our most valued supporters.

Congratulations on your induction into the Northern California Handball Hall of Fame!
