Joe was raised in the Mission District of San Francisco where he attended Mission High School.  He started handball late in life, someone has to work.  He eventually joined The Olympic Club where he learned the game.  In the masters division he entered his first nationals at The Olympic Club and won.  That was the start of a string of national victories that won him the coveted Unites States Handball Association’s Grand Masters Award for winning ten or more nationals.

 

Joe's main strength is his mental and physical toughness.  His great skill is his Bazooka right arm.  He hits the ball with power and hooks. According to Joe his biggest assets is his leg strength, the key to a good handball player.  With his leg strength he is always moving forward into the ball.  Joe has won handball nationals in both singles and doubles and in doubles on the left as well as right side.  He has also won four wall and three wall titles.  But what really makes Joe great is his "never say die, win at all costs attitude."

 

When you play with Joe, you know you are going to win.
